HSE is currently planning for students to be away from school for an extended period of time beginning Monday, March 16 through the end of Spring Break, April 12 due to COVID-19.  All events will be cancelled beginning today, March 13, at 6:00 p.m.  Absolutely no activities will take place during this time.  eLaarning will be utilized while schools are closed.  Be sure to check Canvas and email teachers for specific classroom questions.  We recognize that this is a difficult time for families.  ‚Äč

We will be posting a Weekly Update on our website with important information for Fall Creek Elementary – please be sure to visit this site to keep informed of the happenings at FCE.  We will no longer be sending newsletters, so please be sure to check the website for our weekly updates.

Communications from School and Skyward Family Access: 
Fall Creek Elementary and HSE Schools communicate regularly with families. Most information will be sent electronically via Skylert email. Check your child's Skyward account to confirm that your email address, phone numbers and communication preferences are correct.
Reporting Absences and Late Arrivals: 
If your child will be late to school or absent, you are asked to call the school office by 9:00 a.m.  The phone number is 317-594-4180 – voice mail is available 24 hours to leave messages.

Health Information and Emergency Contacts:
Please be sure to complete the Health Information form in your student's Skyward account. The nurse will use this in case of a health issue at school.
Visitors and Volunteers: Safe Visitor Badge: 
If you wish to visit for lunch, chaperone a field trip or participate in a classroom activity you must have a valid Safe Visitor Badge (background check) on file with HSE Schools. The badges are valid for 3 years and are good at all HSE Schools. Background checks take about a week to process so please plan accordingly. Please visit the HSE Schools website to learn more and apply for a Safe Visitor Badge. http://www.hseschools.org. All visitors must check in at the Fall Creek Elementary office upon arrival and departure.
Birthdays and Special Occasions: 
Student birthdays are announced on Monday morning daily announcements and all students are called to the office receive a birthday pencil. Party invitations, flowers, balloons and gifts cannot be distributed or delivered to students at school.
YMCA Before & After School Care - Before & After School Care:
Provided at FCE through the YMCA. To register or for information please contact them directly at 317-577-2070. If your child is enrolled in the YMCA program, be sure to contact the YMCA IN ADDITION TO THE SCHOOL if your child will be absent or have different care arrangements on a certain day.

• School hours: Mondays – 8:55-3:20 pm; Tuesday-Friday 8:55 am-3:40 pm.
• Breakfast: begins at 8:35 am. Bus drivers will dismiss students purchasing breakfast ($1.25). To check the school Cafeteria Menu, go to the FCE website – https://fce.hseschools.org under Services/Food Services – visit the district’s food services website link. Click on School’s Meal Menus and click on Fall Creek Elementary. If you click on “let’s add it up” under the Nutrition Calculator, you can check calories/carbs, etc for each days menu. Student lunches are $2.70/day. You may apply for Free and Reduced benefits on the District Food Services website.  We will welcome visitors for lunch (with an approved background check on file) after Labor Day. More information to follow.
• *Please inform your child’s teacher of their daily routine after school (bus, car line, etc.) If there is a change in the daily routine, please send a note in for the teacher.
• Book rental fees will be available in Skyward the first week of September, and will be due on or before October 4.

What to do if you suspect a disability/Child Find:
If your child is age 2 ½ through 21, attends any school within the Hamilton Southeastern Schools boundaries or you live in our community, and you suspect your child may have a disability, you should contact us for more information.
  • · For children at least two and a half years of age, but not yet age-eligible for kindergarten, you should contact the Early Childhood Assessment Team at Brooks School Elementary School, 915-4250.
  • · For students who are eligible for kindergarten through age 21, you should contact your child’s teacher, school counselor or building administrator to discuss your concerns and explore the steps to be taken. If your child is not enrolled in public school, you should contact the counselor or building administrator in the building your child would attend if enrolled.
Response-to-Instruction (RtI):
RtI is a general education initiative designed to provide high quality instruction and interventions matched to student needs, and using learning rate over time and level of performance to make important educational decisions. The RtI model is based on a three-tiered model of service delivery with a focus on early intervention and prevention of academic and behavioral concerns. Data collected during this process provides valuable information regarding students’ educational progress and response to interventions. Students who do not demonstrate a response to well-implemented, scientifically-based interventions at the Tier 3 level would be referred for an educational evaluation to determine eligibility for special education. RtI is a component of HSE’s Child Find Process.
