Great job on the 1st Grade Winter Programs, and the Fall Creek Choir Concert this past week.  Thank you to Mrs. Abraham and all of the children for their hard work.  We really enjoy these performances every year!

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED -
Please contact Jacquelyn Thompson 
(jthompson2235@yahoo.com) if you are able to volunteer.  Each year, over 300 children participate in After School Clubs thanks to the amazing parents who lead and volunteer.  They are a student favorite, and allow FCE students to stay after school four consecutive Wednesdays to hang out with their peers and enjoy a club of their choosing.  This year, Clubs will be held:  from 3:40-4:45 p.m. on Wednesdays, February 19, 26, March 4, and 11.  The club fee is waived for student volunteers.

PLEASE HAVE A PLAN IN PLACE - weather-related delays are possible at any time during the school year.  For students k-4, this simply means that the school day will begin 2 hours later than normal and the buses will pick up 2 hours later than the regular schedule.  Also please send your children with coat, hat and gloves or mittens in this colder weather for recess.  In general, recess will be held indoors if the temperature/wind chill falls below 15 degrees.

MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE - Please help our students and staff stay healthy.  A sick student sent home must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.  Fever-free is a temperature less than 100 witout Tylenol or Ibuprofen.  If a student does not stay home for 24 hours once a fever has broken, he/she will be sent home in compliance with HSE policy.  If a student has vomited during the night, even without fever, he/she should not come to school the next morning.

Hamilton Southeastern Schools will no longer be administering NWEA in the spring. Our students in grades 3-8 now participate in ILEARN testing in the spring. Your child will continue to participate in NWEA testing in fall and winter.  Winter NWEA testing will run from January 21, 2020 – February 7, 2020. Teachers use this information to help plan for students’ instructional needs. This testing will also be used in part to identify students in need of high ability services. More information about identification for high ability services can be found at https://www.hseschools.org/academics/intervention-acceleration/high-ability Your child’s teacher will be happy to answer any questions you may have about NWEA testing.

Crayola's marker recycling program - The FCE PTO is participating in a marker recycling program with Crayola.  A collection box is located in the staff lounge, so please give your used up markers of any kind (including dry erase and highlighters) to your teachers and we will send them off to be recycled.

We will be posting a Weekly Update on our website with important information for Fall Creek Elementary – please be sure to visit this site to keep informed of the happenings at FCE.  We will no longer be sending newsletters, so please be sure to check the websie for our weekly updates.    Visitors may join us for lunch beginning September 3.


Simply scroll over on our website home page to JOIN US FOR LUNCH BUNCH, and the link will direct you to the Sign-Up Genius.  You must have a background check on file with Hamilton Southeastern Schools to be a guest for lunch.  Please follow the instructions before 9:00 a.m. on the day you'd like to visit.

Communications from School and Skyward Family Access: 

Fall Creek Elementary and HSE Schools communicate regularly with families. Most information will be sent electronically via Skylert email. Check your child's Skyward account to confirm that your email address, phone numbers and communication preferences are correct.
 
Reporting Absences and Late Arrivals: 
If your child will be late to school or absent, you are asked to call the school office by 9:00 a.m.  The phone number is 317-594-4180 – voicemail is available 24 hours to leave messages.

Health Information and Emergency Contacts:
Please be sure to complete the Health Information form in your student's Skyward account. The nurse will use this in case of a health issue at school.
 
Visitors and Volunteers: Safe Visitor Badge: 
If you wish to visit for lunch, chaperone a field trip or participate in a classroom activity you must have a valid Safe Visitor Badge (background check) on file with HSE Schools. The badges are valid for 3 years and are good at all HSE Schools. Background checks take about a week to process so please plan accordingly. Please visit the HSE Schools website to learn more and apply for a Safe Visitor Badge. http://www.hseschools.org. All visitors must check in at the Fall Creek Elementary office upon arrival and departure.
  
Birthdays and Special Occasions:
Student birthdays are announced on Monday morning daily announcements and all students are called to the office receive a birthday pencil. Party invitations, flowers, balloons and gifts cannot be distributed or delivered to students at school.
 
YMCA Before & After School Care - Before & After School Care:
Provided at FCE through the YMCA. To register or for information please contact them directly at 317-577-2070. If your child is enrolled in the YMCA program, be sure to contact the YMCA IN ADDITION TO THE SCHOOL if your child will be absent or have different care arrangements on a certain day.

  • School hours: Mondays – 8:55-3:20 pm; Tuesday-Friday 8:55 am-3:40 pm.
  • Breakfast: begins at 8:35 am. Bus drivers will dismiss students purchasing breakfast ($1.25). To check the school Cafeteria Menu, go to the FCE website – https://fce.hseschools.org under Services/Food Services – visit the district’s food services website link. Click on School’s Meal Menus and click on Fall Creek Elementary. If you click on “let’s add it up” under the Nutrition Calculator, you can check calories/carbs, etc for each days menu. Student lunches are $2.70/day. You may apply for Free and Reduced benefits on the District Food Services website.  We will welcome visitors for lunch (with an approved background check on file) after Labor Day. More information to follow.
  • *Please inform your child’s teacher of their daily routine after school (bus, car line, etc.) If there is a change in the daily routine, please send a note in for the teacher.
  • Book rental fees will be available in Skyward the first week of September, and will be due on or before October 4.
